Antique Spongeware Umbrella Vase Jardiniere

This antique umbrella vase  is sponged with blue and ornately gilded with a coppery wash and striped with a gold accent.  A matching jardinière can be found published in Kevin McConnell’s book “Spongeware and Spatterware on page 54. This item falls into a very desirable and rare category, for few survived the abuse over the years. This piece measures 21.5” tall and 11.5” diameter at the top. There are 3 or four chips on the base, visible when the item is turned upside down, and do not detract from the appearance at all. There is overall crazing and one pinpoint firing pop near the bottom. The interior bottom has an unglazed area and one non-penetrating crack. This is considered very good condition for this piece. This style would appeal to both spongeware and flow blue collectors alike. This item will be shipped in custom foamed packaging to ensure its safe delivery. We are estimating the shipping costs to be in the neighborhood of $125.00 USD to ship this item within the continental United States. Worldwide shipping is available at a higher price. Guaranteed an authentic Victorian 1900’s era piece, roughly 104 years old and not a recent reproduction or import. Please contact us if you desire additional information or photographs.
